With the Dome of the Rock as a backdrop, volunteers sifted through earth illegally excavated from Jerusalem’s Temple Mount while expanding an entrance to an underground mosque. Among the finds: a Hasmonean-era coin inscribed “Jonathan, High Priest, friend of the Jews.”
